The best TV ads of 2010

[tweetmeme source=”adamanddan” only_single=false]

As the year draws to a close, we’ve put together a top 10 of 2010 for a few things including TV, digital and virals.

Here’s our top 10 of TV ads for 2010.

10) Our 10th favourite saw one of the first 3DTV ads come from Samsung and they executed it really well. It wasn’t a ground breaking idea but they did it in style and it’s wonderful to watch.

9) Nothing will ever beat the Heineken Walk in fridge advert, but this one came pretty close. Men with talent was the follow up from Heineken and it still cracks us up.

8) The Yeo Valley Rap was a great TV ad this year and has become one of our favourites. Yes it was a complete rip off of Braincell Harmonic’s music video for ‘We make hay” but it achieved over 600,000 views on YouTube within it’s first week, and one of the only ads this year to reach trending topics on Twitter. Our favourite part is the head-rotating owl about 50 seconds in.

7) A weird entry here, but number 7 goes to every ad featured in this next video. It’s a whole commercial break that saw Jimmy Carr hijack each ad as part as Channel 4’s comedy gala. Nice and innovative. Well done to all the brands involved who let him take over their ads.

6) We couldn’t leave this one out. The Nike World Cup advert was fantastic. Mainly because Wayne Rooney is probably shagging a hooker in his caravan right as we speak.

5) This ad from Drench makes it in simply for a great idea and the fact that, if we had our university days over again, this is what we’d spend it doing.

4) Last year it was year of the meerkat. This year, it’s year of the Old Spice. WK created a great ad which transferred beautifully online to fuel a great campaign.

3) We especially like this one, as it was so meaningful. And so different from what Guinness had before. But it was a good progression for them and one ad we’ll always envy.

2) This was a major contender for our favourite TV ad, it’s seemless, perfect and a great insight for a brand advertisement. John Lewis – Lifelong commitment.

1) Our favourite ad of the year is from a campaign called Embrace Life. Released early 2010, it was made for the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) to encourage people to wear a seatbelt. It’s beautifully shot, emotional and a strong reminder how your actions not only effect you, but your family too.

So there we have it. Look out for our top 10 virals of the year and digital campaigns. They’ll be coming sometime next week.

ooooh, Johnnie Walker’s “The Man who walked around the world” didn’t make the cut 😦 😦 😦 😦

We’ll be honest, we’ve never seen that before. But it’s a bloody brilliant ad now we’ve watched it. It was also released in 2009 so we can’t count it anyway 😦
