Ikea Facebook Showroom

We were first shown this by our friend @shib88
It’s a fantastic digital campaign from Ikea using a popular social media platform. Facebook and picture tagging. Tagging has become one of the Internets growing and most popular aspects on Facebook. By tagging or getting tagged, you also appear on your friends walls and feeds saying that you have been tagged in a picture.

Ikea decided to use this trend and created a Facebook profile page for the Ikea ‘boss’. They then uploaded pictures of Ikea showrooms showcasing a selection of high value products. Once they were uploaded, whoever tagged the item first, won it. Free of charge.

Here’s the video to show you how they did it!

It’s a fantastic concept and a great way to utilize social media in a different way to the norm. By getting people more engaged with social media they have also encouraged them to engage with the brand. It’s simple, clever and very effective. Nice to see Ikea venturing to the digital side too.
